Atelier : autoproduire une chanson
De l’idée à l’enregistrement :
un atelier en 5 séances pour auteurs-compositeurs
Si vous écrivez des chansons, mais que l’idée de tout enregistrer et produire vous-même vous semble hors de portée, ce cours s’adresse à vous. En 5 séances de 2 heures en personne, l’atelier introduit à l’enregistrement, l’arrangement, le mixage de l’une de vos chansons. Vous repartirez avec une chanson finie, enregistrée et mixée, les bases pour enregistrer et produire vos propres morceaux en autonomie, une méthode de travail simple, transposable chez vous.
Le parcours
1. Vision - définir l’univers de la chanson (papier + petit enregistreur audio Zoom)
2. Écriture - développer et finaliser la chanson
3. Prise de son - enregistrer les pistes (Tascam multipiste, sans ordinateur)
4. Overdubs - enrichir l’arrangement
5. Mixage et Mastering - finaliser le son (Logic Pro)
Pour qui ?
Que vous soyez débutant.e ou que vous ayez déjà de l’expérience en écriture de chansons, mais pas encore en auto-production, cet atelier s’adresse à celles et ceux qui veulent franchir le pas de l’enregistrement.
Ouvert à tous.tes dans un esprit bienveillant et sans jugement, l’atelier peut se dérouler en anglais (bilingue, niveau natif) ou en français (niveau B2), chez vous, chez moi ou dans un studio de répétition (location non inclue dans le tarif) à Toulouse et alentours.
Une approche inspirée de deux univers
Cet atelier s’inspire du travail de deux producteurs aux univers différents et tous deux inspirants : l’intuition et la conversation entre l’espace accoustique et l’instrument de Phil Weinrobe (producteur d’artistes folk indépendants), et l’approche plus systémique et expérimentale de Brian Eno, pour qui le studio est lui-même un instrument. Contrairement à un cours en ligne, celui-ci se déroule en personne, avec un accompagnement direct à chaque étape.
Tarif
Atelier en 5 séances de 2 heures : 500€ (paiement possible en 2 ou 5 fois).
Si l’atelier doit se dérouler dans un studio de répétition, la location s’ajoute au tarif de l’atelier.

Je suis auteur-compositeur, producteur et compositeur de musiques de films. Sous le nom d’artiste Hank Midnight, je sors des EPs, LPs et musiques originales. Originaire du New Jersey, j’ai fait de la musique à New York pendant plus de dix ans, tout en enseignant l’histoire et la littérature dans des écoles new-yorkaises. Aujourd’hui basé à Toulouse, je poursuis mes projets musicaux et filmiques en collaboration avec des artistes et des cinéastes, tout en proposant un enseignement créatif et ouvert.

From Idea to Recording: A 5-Session Workshop for Songwriters
If you write songs but feel that recording and producing them all on your own is out of reach, this course is for you. Over the course of five 2-hour in-person sessions, this workshop will introduce you to recording, arranging, and mixing one of your songs. You’ll leave with a finished, recorded, and mixed song, the basics for recording and producing your own tracks independently, and a simple workflow you can apply at home.
The Process
1. Vision—define the song’s concept (paper + small Zoom audio recorder)
2. Songwriting—develop and finalize the song
3. Recording—record the tracks (Tascam multitrack recorder, without a computer)
4. Overdubs—enrich the arrangement
5. Mixing and Mastering—finalize the sound (Logic Pro)
Who is this for?
Whether you’re a beginner or already have experience writing songs but haven’t yet tried self-production, this workshop is for anyone who wants to take the plunge into recording.
Open to everyone in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, the workshop can be conducted in English (bilingual, native level) or French (B2 level), at your place, at my place, or in a rehearsal studio (rental not included in the price) in Toulouse and the surrounding area.
An approach inspired by two worlds
This workshop draws inspiration from the work of two producers with different—yet equally inspiring—approaches: the intuition and interplay between acoustic space and the instrument demonstrated by Phil Weinrobe (producer of independent folk artists), and the more systematic and experimental approach of Brian Eno, for whom the studio itself is an instrument. Unlike an online course, this workshop takes place in person, with direct guidance at every step.

Workshop consisting of 5 two-hour sessions: 500€ (payment in installments is available).
If the workshop takes place in a rehearsal studio, the rental fee will be added to the workshop fee. Dates to be scheduled together. Recording and mixing equipment provided.

I am a singer-songwriter, producer, and film composer. Under the stage name Hank Midnight, I release EPs, LPs, and original soundtracks. Originally from New Jersey, I made music in New York City for over ten years while teaching history and literature in schools. I am now based in Toulouse, where I continue to make music and films, often in collaboration with fellow musicians and filmmakers.
